Then, after breakfast, we had all our kids sign our family flag. "Power to the Purple!!"
Here's the view of our first camp -- looks a little like a refugee camp, doesn't it? But I guess that's what the Saints were as they fled West!
Our first stop at a trading post. There was the FUNNIEST little "Chinese" trading woman who demanded that we sing for our lunch. JD led us in "Called to Serve" with tempo changes and dynamics. It was INCREDIBLE!! Thanks, JD, for sharing your talent with us!
In the afternoon, we did a service project for the ranch we were on, in the spirit of the Saints who left the way better for those who would follow them. We ran out of trash bags for the invasive weeds before we could do much.
Next, we had a visit from the Pony Express, bringing the kids letters from their bishops.
The kids all devoured their letters (we stopped as a company for this one).
After dinner that night, we had a hoedown. Even our quiet son was laughing about how very UNcoordinated we were (they all got it from me -- family resemblance kicked in fast!).
We sure have great kids -- both those we have had for their whole lives, and the ones we grew to love so quickly on Trek. More later!!

What a grand time you must have had. I LOVE the idea about the pony express riders--and finding a trading post to stop at! What more fun than to be able to sing for your proprietor! It sounds like a simply wonderful experience.
