Last Trek Day (for good and bad!)
Last day means testimony meeting. We took our family to the edge of the forest in dappled sunlight for our meeting. Then it was time to walk our last mile and return to the distractions of the real world (and our real families, too!).
One last time on the road! By now, we all sing together easily --but not just pioneer songs. I have introduced them to InsideOut Acappella! (Forgive me, parents -- it's contagious!)
We took a little break on the 1 mile return walk and Teagan and I serenaded the group with "Peanut Butter and Jelly." We had a late night snack the first night of cocoa and crackers with peanut butter and jelly, which of course meant that I had to try to sing the song. On our last night, the kids begged me into singing it for them again. But in this little break, we got the chance to sing with Teagan and REALLY give people the chance to see how nuts we are. Maybe the stake will think twice about inviting us along for their activities! (I guess it could be worse, but I won't suggest how)
Here's Teagan with his family! We hardly saw him -- except for me noticing his injured hand across the field the second night. He had cut his hand with his knife and I knew that putting his hand over his head while his family was working to set up camp was NOT a normal Teagan behavior. I had led him to the camp Doc and left him in capable hands there.
We got back to base camp and met our families there. We grabbed a quick sack lunch and sat together as a family one more time.
The blending of our two families -- Staci really warmed up to JD, and then Sydni and Thomas joined them!
I miss my kids and am still amazed that I could let go the worry for our kids at home for those four days. Reunion plans are in the making! So you'll see this group again, I'm sure, but they will probably be dressed more modernly. Hope they recognize me!

What a great experience.
You also re-introduced our kids to InsideOut. I can still hear Tanner singing PB and Jelly. WE NEED THAT CD! I'll have to order a copy for Eliza's birthday. She loves the songs!
