I knew twins must have some identity issues, but lately, I don't think I'm qualified enough to handle this one!
Staci has picked up on the term "twin sister" -- even though it's not something I use often. Staci was looking at the pictures on the wall and said, " There's my twin sister," pointing to Sydni. Then, later Sydni says, "I'm not Sydni! I'm Sister." And Staci chimes, "I'm not Staci. I'm Sister!" I've explained that they are BOTH sisters, and their names are, respectively, Sydni and Staci. (They also state that they are not "angel" or "sweetie" or "cute". They are "Sister!")
Then, they have this running argument:
Staci: She's not Mommy! She's Mom!
Sydni: She's not Mom! She's Mommy!
repeat three times.
Then, they seem to resolve that by both calling me "Momma" now. Great.
Last night:
He's not Dad! He's Daddy!
He's not Daddy! He's Dad!
Deep breath. Time to work on identity again. Can this count towards my Master's Degree in Counseling? Hmmmmmmm. . . . . . .

I wonder what other mothers of twins have encountered with the "sister" vs "my real name" issue! Interesting. And the darling picture accompanying the tale of despair is surely a cute one too. I bet the name issue will resolve over time, but there must be something you can do to apply the right kind of pressure or say just the right thing..... Hmm, someone wiser than I knows.
That's very cute Traci. :) I have cousins who are twins, and one set - Lucas & Aaron had their own language (literally they hardly spoke a word of English until they were close to 3 years old...they'd speak in their own language to one another and understand each other perfectly). To this day, they are inseparable and they're now 23 years old. I think it's definately a plus that twins are so close, but can see how there could be the trying 'identity' times as well. :) The picture is adorable
Hope you had a happy Easter.
Your girls are just the cutest! Taryn will love getting the chance to visit with them when she comes out for her birthday. (Kidding...we can't send her out alone!!!) (Also, this says Dennis, but it's really Janyse.)
We'd LOVE to have Taryn for her birthday - even #5, even by herself! November is great for us! I guess the rest of you can come, too. Which ever year it works out for! Come play in the land of aloha!
Well- at least they are starting to talk more! Last we saw them they couldn't say such wonderful words!
