You know how the Cougars have been struggling lately? Well, part of the reason is that Tanner won't wear his game day shirt. Each Saturday (or Thursday or Friday) that there is a football game, I wake the kids up and tell them to put on their game day shirt. They each have a "The Quest" shirt, but that isn't their only option. They just have to wear a navy blue Cougar shirt, not gray, not white, but Navy. Part of that "Wear blue to the game" campaign.
Well, Tanner said to me the day of the TCU game, "But Mom, they can't SEE me. They don't know if I'm wearing my shirt or not!!!" He was a bit emphatic about it, too. He wouldn't wear the shirt, and the Cougs tanked for the first half. Valerie called me at half time and I told her about Tanner. She talked to him for a couple of minutes and worked her Aunty magic. He went and put on a game day shirt, and talked to her again (smiling, too, as you can see above!).
No, the Cougars didn't pull out the win, but thanks to Tanner, they did score a touchdown. I've reminded him how important he is to the team. We'll see if we can keep helping the Cougs win this season! Now, if TCU can just beat the Utes on Thursday. . . .

How wonderful to see Tanner with his famous grin. I'm glad somebody can do something with those Cougars. What has happened to the team that started out the season? Go Blue! Grandma PenGwen
Who knew that Tanner was responsible for the spirit of BYU football? He'd better be wearing blue for the BYU v Utah game later this month!
I'm glad your family all has The Quest shirt though, makes me really happy to think that we all wear the same shirt often :) Gotta love BYU Football! I'm so sad that the last home game is this weekend :(
Tanner, any time you don't want to wear your blue shirt on game day you can come up to me house.
You can even come up on the 22nd and wear a red shirt if you want. :)
