I know it's been a while, but here's a glimpse of why:
Sunday night, Shan came with me and the girls to a practice at the church. While there, we heard that the water had been cut off for the farm, for all 6 families that live up there. Okay, we thought, this could be interesting -- maybe three days without water. We were able to brainstorm on the way home.
We knew that we were having a college friend come on Monday for the day -- pick her up at the airport and have 8 wonderful hours of Amy before returning her to the airport. We got a game plan together that focused on not being home too much where the toilets could not be flushed.
Then MORNING came. While rushing through work, Shan dropped his cell phone in the pool. Chuckle, chuckle, chuckle. He came rushing home to bring some things before he went to replace it. Good thing, because. . the VAN wouldn't start. Ever since Staci turned on the headlamps at 3:00 in the afternoon and we didn't realize it for 24 hours, we have been electrically challenged. (Lesson: never leave sleeping toddlers in the van when they can get themselves out IF you aren't willing to check the van to make sure everything is as it should be!)
So, Shan jumped the van and followed me to the warehouse (it had water) for a potty stop and to rinse the sippy cups, before he got to go replace his phone. We left for the airport with windows all down and without High School Musical playing on the stereo.
At least I didn't have to wear my railroad train pajamas. I hate my railroad train pajamas.
So, TODAY. . . We have water again thanks to Shane hopping a plane to get the new pump and coming right back and installing it. Shan's phone is replaced, even if all the phone number he had in it are lost -- at least until the old phone dries out and hopefully he can get to them then. The van started this morning, and luckily it is due for servicing, so I'll get Toyota to help deal with that one. We have been reminded again that if you have the choice to laugh or cry, for heavens' sake, LAUGH!!! We had a great visit with Amy! So it really wasn't a "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day."
And nobody threw up Sunday, Monday, or in the night last night!!! Hooray!
